The Christmas Table

24 December 2016

The Christmas Table. A place to come together and share our stories of the past year, enjoy beauiful food and appreciate the joy of the festive season.

The Sharp/Willetts Family Christmas Table is a lot like that, however insert a little more crazy! My younger brother Sam will open those biscuits in about two seconds, while my older brother Bob will replace the Waterford crystal glass for a bottle of Crown Lager or something similar and my darling husband will crack lame 'dad jokes' all day and will request a 'normal' napkin instead of a lovely gold polka-dot one! But it will be a great day and I'm looking forward to spending the first Christmas in our home in Kiama with all my family.

I thought I would share my Christmas table all set. I wanted to go with a modern Aussie Christmas theme, so decided on some beautiful Australian native flowers from The Wildflower Studio.
My daughter Emily and I made homemade cookies, complete with an embossed pattern in the fondant - we're so clever!
The 'to the beach' sign and timber surfboard completed the authentic Aussie theme - don't you think?! AND...I'm going to brag about my younger brother here - he made that surfboard! It is so incredibly gorgeous and just suits my house - so he's not permitted to take it out surfing. (Yes, he gets all his creative talent from his sister! Ha ha ha)
Let's not forget about the kids....they get their own decorated table too! Emily and I made tree cookies and I decorated milk bottles with their names and used polka-dot paper as placemats. I always loved being on the separate kids table with my cousins when I was young and all our kids just love being together.

I thought I would share some other Christmas table setting ideas that I have done in the past. This is from a post from last year.
And there's always my Christmas team party I had back in 2014! One day the Tickled pINK Stampers will get another amazing party like this. (We were in the midst of packing this time last year to move and this year was a time to get settled - so maybe next year another Christmas party is in order!) You can see the post by Clicking Here.

Wishing you all a safe, happy and very merry Christmas. Thank you to everyone for all your support and love over the past year. I am looking forward to year full of more crafting! To stay connected with me please make sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram.

Tons of love,

Global Design Project - Lovely Trees

19 December 2016

#GDP067
Goodness me....is it really the last Monday before Christmas? I don't quite know if I'm feeling excited or completely and utterly overwhelmed! Please tell me I'm not alone?!

There's a theme this week over at the GDP and we need to use trees. Well, there's a tree shining brightly in this house this week. We are running the challenge for two weeks and we would love if you could play along.

Confession Time:
You know those ironic sayings? Yeah you do....about the electricians lights that don't work, the mechanics car that doesn't run, the cardmaker who doesn't send cards - oh, that one was about me!

I.am.so.bad.

I am really, really bad at sending out cards. I have made over 200 of the cards pictured and they are still sitting here waiting to be finished and posted! But how adorable are they? To those of you who might be waiting eagerly for a Christmas card from me before Sunday, please do not under any circumstances hold your breath....it may not arrive until the new year! Please know I still love you.

I'm now heading off to wrap some gifts and finish writing on Christmas cards. Please hop over to the Global Design Project and see all the beautiful tree inspired projects created by the Design Team this week.

Sweet Christmas Jars - Nanna's Relish

18 December 2016

My beautiful Grandmother (who passed many years ago) would make all sorts of Christmas goodies for gifts; biscuits, jams, chutneys, slices - you know, the general 'Nanna' kind of things! Well she would make the yummiest tomato relish and this year I tried to do it justice. Who knows if I made it as nice as her, probably not! There was no real 'set' recipe when it came to Nan, she would add a pinch of this and a dash more of that - so to those who get 'Nanna's Relish' this year I hope it is as nice on your ham toastie as I remember it!

I had to make them pretty of course (like too good to open, just in case it stinks and at least the wrapping is nice! lol) **Sneak Peak** I used the new Sending Love Glassine Sheets from the upcoming Occasions Catalogue with some brown paper underneath to highlight the cute pattern on them.

Now I'm off to deliver these to the neighbours and some friends, I'll probably be gone for hours! I would love to hear if you make anything in the kitchen for Christmas gifts and if your kitchen is a total utter disaster zone afterwards? (I swear it took me more time to clean than to make the relish!)

Pink Christmas - Global Design Project Sketch

12 December 2016

For the Global Design Project this week we have a sketch challenge designed by Teneale Williams. Even though Teneale is no longer a part of the GDP she is kindly still creating the sketches for us and we love them. Thanks Teneale!

How has your week been? For us in the Sharp house it's been a little busy with Daniel starting a new job and the last week of school for Emily and James. We are all looking forward to a little break over Christmas and spend some time together.
Christmas - I truly adore this time of year. And I also love creating for this time of year too! But what's a Christmas without a little pink - right?!

And I just needed to showcase some of the beautiful products that will be gone by the end of the month:
  • Fancy Frost Designer Specialty Paper.
This white-on-white textured paper shows up so beautifully when coloured or even left as is.
  • Christmas Trinkets Embellishments .
These little antiqued silver cuties give any Christmas project that little extra something special.
There's also two of my favourite stamps sets:
  • Embellished Ornaments.
This gorgeous ornament stamp set also coordinates with matching Delicate Ornament Thinlits to create so many beautiful projects.
  • Teeny Tiny Sentiments.
I love this stamp set because of its versatility with all the lovely sentiments. There's a sentiment one for every occasion.
Now  head on over to the Global Design Project and be inspired for your upcoming craft week!

If you live in Australia you can press on the supply list below to purchase any of the items I have highlighted in my project today:

Global Design Project - Colour Challenge

06 December 2016

I'm late. I'm late, I'm very, very late! I'm about 24hrs late actually - on posting for the Global Design Project this week. I have a good excuse, promise! My darling husband was made redundant last week and it's been a little bit crazy around here. Thankfully he has another job (huge relief) and I had to drive him to the city yesterday to start. Needless to say I was late getting home (it may or may not have been due that quick stop I made to Ikea!) Life huh, it gets in the way sometimes doesn't it?!

Moving onto the good stuff....we have a colour challenge this week and I kept it simple with a quick Christmas card. Even though it was quick and simple, I really like the simplicity of it.
(Those Stitched Frames. Are they not gorgeous? Yep. I love them. Soooo, don't hate me, but they are on backorder at the moment (sad face) and Stampin' Up! are hoping to get them as soon as possible.)
