Just Add Ink - Sketch Challenge

Just Add Ink 175

As you may know, I am in Utah enjoying the Stampin Up Grand Vaction!
I am blessed to so many supporters, not only my amazing customers, but my family and friends too.

While I have been away this week, it has been our office girl, Maggie's birthday.
I am a 'pink, frilly, crafty, shabby chic' kinda girl - well Mag's is more of a grunge girl. Her favourite colour is black, but she's still girly. Mag's also loves music. My husband and her talk bands and music all day!

Maggie and I don't have a lot in common, but we do have is our friendship and she has been a huge support to me and I am very grateful.

The Just Add Ink challenge this week is a sketch - I turned it around.
#175 - Sketch

I made the cassette using Stampin Up punches.  I don't know if my kids will even know what a cassette is!

I am loving the new Modern Medley Designer Series Paper. So beautiful.

Grand Vaction Swap

23 July 2013

At this very moment I am in Utah enjoying the Grand Vaction.

Oh my, what an amazing time. I am looking forward to blogging all about my travels and sharing all the exciting news.

For now though I will share the swap card I made. We have been asked to hand in 21 cards - 20 for swaps and one extra for Stampin Up, which they donate to charity. This is different to a 'normal' swap and we hand in our cards to Stampin Up to be collated and redistributed back to the demonstrators.

I made this into a full card, as this is the one I will be handing into Stampin Up.

Stamp Sets: Secret Garden (pg94) ; Really Good Greetings (pg38)
Accessories: Chevron Embossing Folder ; 1cm Taffeta Ribbon ; Secret Garden Framelits

Colour Combination: Whisper White ; Strawberry Slush ; Coastal Cabana ; So Saffron ; Pistachio Pudding

World Record Attempt

20 July 2013

At the US Convention in Utah this week, Stampin Up broke world record! To send the most amount of greeting cards from one place.

The cards had to have a sentiment written inside and addressed with a postage stamp.

My card is being sent to my friend Nicole who came over three nights to help me with getting my swap cards ready for the convention. I must also mention that my amazing Mum and best-friend helped me too, but I have never made a card for Nicole, not even for her birthday, so this one is for her. Thanks Nicole!

This is Nicole's favourite colour pallete at the moment

Stamp Sets: Beautifully Baroque (pg113) ; Chalk Talk (pg12)
Accessories: Labels Collection Framelit ; Oval Punch ; Rhinestones ; Ruffled Stretch Trim ; 3.2mm Taffeta Trim
Colour Combination: Whisper White ; Smoky Slate ; Daffodil Delight ; Coastal Cabana.

Thanks so Much - Brian Pilling

17 July 2013

Some of you may know that during Convention in May at Brisbane this year I was asked to give a talk on 'Creating a Blueprint for Success.' I was contact by Brian Pilling, the Head of Training in Utah!!!!! There needs to be lots of exlaimation marks as this was such a huge honour.

There was lots of work and preparation that went into giving this presentation. I was extemely nervous and Brian was so calm and had every bit of confidence in me.

Brian and I - taken on my i-phone, not the greatest image, sorry.

I had made Brian a card to thank him for the oppotunity and for being such a nice person to get to know. However, in true Louise style I forgot to take it with me! So I will be catching up with Brian this week at the US Convention and I will now be able to give him his thank you card - and a packet of Tim Tams!

I thought I would also share a video of Brian being 'crafty' and show a neat project he created.
Enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by.

Note: If you are an Australian Demonstrator the Convention Resources are now available online. Be sure to check them out, there's lots of useful information. xx

Utah Bound!

14 July 2013

Last week I received a package from Stampin' Up! Head Office. Enclosed was a beautifully decorated large envelope.

If you remember a few months ago I blogged this post: ''Is This Really Happening?'' It was about earning the Grand Vaction Trip to Stampin Up Head Office in UTAH! My husband and I leave on Wednesday. I am still pinching myself and beyond excited!

Because Stampin Up don't miss anything, they sent this beautiful envelope with all our travel documents, itinerary and gorgeous bag tags.

Before Grand Vaction is the US Convention in Salt Lake City.

I will be posting some cards during the week that I will be taking with me and my Just Add Ink challenges will also be posted. So just because I am away, there's still things happening here, be sure to keep popping back!

If you would like to follow me on facebook, I will be updating there regularly. Please 'like' my page and enjoy my adventures!

Thank you for supporting me,
Lou X

Just Add Water

12 July 2013

Just Add Ink 173

At  Just Add Ink this week, the criteria is 'Just Add Water.' The first stamp that came to my mind was Bootiful Occasions - with the gumboots. I love pretty gumboots and have a pair at our front door that I wear when visiting my husband at his shed!

"When the rain is done, out comes the sun!"

How I made my pretty gumboots:
I stamp the first boot directly to the card, a bit off centre because I want to add the other boot on top. Clean the stamp and use a marker and only draw the outline of the boot (not the clouds) and stamp that onto Designer Paper. I then carefully cut out the paper piece and glue onto stamped boot. Repeat for the second boot, however stamp it onto whisper white cardstock and not directly to the card, cut this out and place off centre over other boot. I also used my markers to add some shadow areas, so it didn't look too paper like and added extra dimension by applying crystal effects to each gumboot, which I don't think the photo is showing very well.

One of my new favourite papers from the 2014 Catalogue is Gingham Garden.
It's just so me!

Stamp Set: Bootiful Occasions (pg24)
Accessories: Crystal Effects (pg 174)
Designer Series Paper: Gingham Garden (pg153)
Colour Combination: Whisper White ; Coastal Cabana ; So Saffron  ; Daffodil Delight ;
Melon Mambo

Just Add Ink - Photo Inspiration

05 July 2013

Just Add Ink 172

This is my first week as a Design Team Member at my favourite challenge blog - Just Add Ink
I am so honured to be part of these talented group of ladies. If you enjoy making cards and scrapbook pages, be sure to play along - it's lots of fun.

The photo inspiration is the front of the new 2014 catalogue.

I love the fresh bright colours of the catalogue and because I am a pink girl, Strawberry Slush is my new favourite colour, you will see me use it a lot this year!
Here is my card:

Stamp Set: Really Good Greetings (pg38) ; Mosaic Madness (pg123)
Accessories: Simply Pressed Clay/Blossoms Clay Mold (pg167)
Big Shot: Floral Framelits (pg187) ; Large Scallop Edgelits (pg188)
Designer Series Paper: Quatrefancy Speciality (pg150) ; Champagne Glimmer Paper
Colour Combination: Whisper White ; Starwberry Slush; Coastal Cabana ; So Saffron

I didn't get a chance to do an insert - sorry!

TIPS: On page 167 you will find the new Simply Pressed Clay and Molds.
Simply Pressed Clay $11.95  ; Buttons & Blossoms Molds $13.95

Here's my husbands tips, because he made it work best, I really do need to give him the credit!

1. Only use enough clay to level the mold. You will need to play a little by adding some and taking some away, but it doesn't take long. If you only use the right amount you won't waste any.
2. Put in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. I accidently left mine in overnight and it was fine! They should peel out of the mold more easily now. If they don't leave in the freezer longer.
3. Be careful when peeling them out, they still need to dry for a few hours.

My own tip: (I'll claim this one!)
I painted mine instead of colouring the clay with ink refill. I dyed white acrylic paint with my ink refill as I found adding ink to the actual clay made it very tacky. Once dry I also put on Crystal Effects to make it shiny!

New Catalogue Launch Party

04 July 2013

Our lounge room was transformed again last Sunday for my Annual Catalogue Launch Party.

I have been absent from my blog because I have been a busy little vegemite, organising for the Launch Party and also because I was restricted to what I could show, due to Stampin Up policies. Now the catalogue is live, I can show as much as I like - Yay!

Here's a few things that I created for the launch.

'Welcome' chalk board sign I made, with help
from My Digital Studio

My version of fat-free cake!
Inspired by the amazing Donna Williams

Naww - cute little bid house made from
Ginghan Garden Designer Series Paper

Everyone who came was able to create this 'Make and Take' card.
I love the new Washi Tape and Love Labels set.

Thank you so much to everyone who came and I know there are many of you who wanted to attend, I understand it is such a busy time of year. I hope you enjoyed this little taste of my Annual Launch Party.

If you would like your 'real' copy of the current catalogue, please contact me.

Thanks for stopping by,
