Global Design Project - Food, Glorious Food!

29 August 2016

It's Monday evening (in Oz) which means it's time for another Global Design Project challenge. This week we have a theme challenge - which is sure to make your taste buds tingle!

Sneak Peek Alert - again!
The ice blocks are from a new stamp set called Day at the Beach in the upcoming 2016 Holiday Catalogue which is available to customers to purchase from on the 1st September.

This card reminds me of sweet Summer days by the beach eating lemonade icy-poles. Yum!

I know you have seen this technique of white embossing and watercoloring from me more than a couple of time recently, but I love it and it's so fun to sit and colour!

Watercoloring Tips:
  • I stamp the image onto Shimmer Paper as I find this really nice for watercoloring.
  • Use a wet Aqua Painter and pick up the ink from the lids of the ink pads and use a tissue to wipe off when using another colour.
  • For a more saturated colour, wait to dry before adding more colour in certain areas.
The sentiment stamp is from Mixed Borders on page 123. The two-toned washed look was achieved using the using the baby-wipe technique. Fold a couple of baby wipes in half or quarters and use ink refills to ink baby wipes and use this as a makeshift ink pad. I used Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie ink refills.

Now to head on over the Global Design Project and get your senses ready for some tasty treats this week!

Colour Challenge - Global Design Project #49

15 August 2016

Time for another Global Design Project Challenge. This week is a colour challenge and I really enjoyed this fun and happy colour combo. So me! I will definitely use these colours again.

Unless you are living under a rock - (which you possibly could be, we've all been there!) - you will know that Stampin' Up! are getting ready to launch the upcoming Holiday Catalogue. Oh.M.GEE. Again, Stampin' Up! deliver on more beautiful stamps and accessories. You will want everything! Stay tuned, it launches on 1st September 2016.

For my card I am using the new Paisley & Posies Stamp Set from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue. I had one of my friends make a yin yang card for her husband over the weekend and I was inspired by her card that I decided to use the paisleys to create a similar effect.
I watercolored the base card using the Aqua Painter and Shimmer Paper, then white embossed the small paisley over the base. I white embossed the same small paisley for the front of the card and carefully coloured using the Aqua Painter brush, picking up the ink from the lids of the ink pads.
Would you like to be a Guest Designer on the GDP? Why not play along this week and you could be chosen as a Guest Designer for the next colour challenge. This week we have the super talented and sweet Rochelle Blok as our guest, be sure to check out her gorgeous card when you head over. Click Here. Also be inspired by the amazing Design Team, they never disappoint!

CASEing Tanja Kolar - Global Design Project

08 August 2016

I love it when we get to CASE team designers on the Global Design Project for 'CASE the Designer' challenge. This week we are getting our inspiration from the amazingly talented and super sweet Tanja Kolar from Germany.

The definition of CASE: Copy And Share Everything
Put simply, we get our inspiration from a particular project or creation. For this challenge we can use ANY element. You might be inspired by the colours, the stamp set or the card layout. However you are inspired, why not play along this week?
I love Tanja's clean style, always adding a little extra something to her creations. I decided use the same stamp set, Balloon Celebration, and water-coloured the balloon using the Aqua Painter. I added a little tiny bow to the balloon and softly stamped the background with stars, ensuring I add some other soft embellishments like Tanja does to her projects.

Now to head on over to the Global Design Project and see the amazing project the Design Team has for you! Have a great week.
